Michelle Khan Sullivan, B.A., M.A.

Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)

Clients may come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected from themselves or the people around them. This may show up as anxiety, depression, difficulty managing emotions, relationship conflict, grief, trauma, or feeling caught in patterns that are no longer working. I strive to provide a space where clients can better understand what may be happening beneath the surface, build greater awareness of their patterns, and develop healthier and more effective ways of responding to the challenges in their lives.

My approach is holistic, integrative, and client-centred. I believe that meaningful therapy considers the whole person, including their relationships, history, environment, strengths, identities, and current circumstances. Rather than relying on one single therapeutic model, I draw from a range of evidence-based approaches and tailor the work to the needs, goals, and developmental stage of each client. My style is collaborative, warm, and practical, with space for both deeper exploration and concrete strategies that can translate into everyday life.

My clinical experience includes work in both non-profit, community-based mental health settings and private practice, supporting clients with a wide range of concerns, including complex mental health and psychosocial challenges. I work with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families, which has given me the opportunity to understand concerns from both an individual and relational perspective. I have experience supporting clients with anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, emotional regulation, life transitions, relationship difficulties, family dynamics, and occupational stress, including work with first responders.

Relationships are also an important area of my practice. In my work with couples, I support clients in better understanding recurring interaction patterns, improving communication, strengthening emotional connection, and navigating conflict in more constructive ways. My couples work is informed by additional training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy, including Level 1 training, as well as Emotionally Focused Therapy-informed principles, allowing me to consider both the patterns that occur between partners and the emotional needs that may be underlying them.

I also have a strong interest in working with children and families. As a parent myself, I have an additional appreciation for the complexity of family relationships and the realities of parenting, and this has shaped the way I think about emotional regulation, parental support, attachment, and family systems. When working with children, I consider not only the presenting behaviour or concern, but also the developmental, emotional, relational, and environmental factors surrounding it. I aim to support children while also helping parents feel more confident in understanding and responding to their child’s needs.

Across my practice, one of my strengths is helping clients make sense of complicated emotional and relational experiences in a way that feels understandable and manageable. Whether working with an individual, couple, child, or family, I strive to balance insight with practical change, helping clients better understand themselves while also developing tools that support greater confidence, connection, and emotional well-being.
